Thanks to a successful draft by the obviously skilled GM, 闲人 turned the not-so-favorable eighth overall pick into a projected finish of first. They're expected to go 11-2-0 (1,550 points) in TDL 2015 C League. They used a conservative plan early to fill out their lineup, selecting QB Drew Brees (41st overall), RBs Lamar Miller (32nd) and Ameer Abdullah (56th), and WRs Dez Bryant (8th) and Calvin Johnson (17th). They built the best group of WRs in the league, as they have Bryant, Johnson, Allen Robinson, and Brandon LaFell for their rotation.

闲人 should use Week 9 to finally build that mini trainyard. Really just about anything other than checking fantasy football will do. They have four players and the most projected fantasy points on bye that week. Based on their opponents' projected points, they have the least challenging schedule. Along with having the easiest overall schedule, 闲人 has the softest last four games of the season.

Draft Notes

  • Highlight Reel

With five better-than-average positions on 闲人, WR and QB are projected as especially strong units.

  • Separating the Wheat from the Chaff

At three different positions, 闲人 picked up projected top-3 players (Connor Barth, Drew Brees, and Houston).

  • Defense Wins Championships?

闲人 chose to go with two DEFs instead of loading up at other spots.

  • Potent Potential

Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Marvin Jones are a couple of late-round fliers with decent upside for 闲人.

  • The Bargain Whisperer

闲人 was hunting for steals throughout the draft, snapping up a trio of bargains in the first 9 rounds (Connor Barth, Houston, and Travis Kelce).

  • The Heist Is On

The other league managers passed over a diamond in the rough. According to ADP, 闲人 got a steal in snatching Connor Barth in the ninth round (104th overall pick vs. ADP of 77).

Player Analysis

    • Dez Bryant, WR
    • Round 1, Pick 8
    The Power of Persuasion

Now would be a reasonable time for 闲人 to encourage the TDL 2015 C League to increase the value of receptions. They grabbed Dez Bryant and his 87 projected catches (ranked 10th in the NFL).

    • Calvin Johnson, WR
    • Round 2, Pick 17
    Ice Up, Son

Calvin Johnson is projected to decimate opposing secondaries and finish fourth in the NFL in both TD receptions with 9.8 and receiving yards with 1,322.

    • Lamar Miller, RB
    • Round 3, Pick 32
    If it Ain't Broke

Then do fix it? Laughing in the face of decades of fantasy tradition, 闲人 didn't grab their first RB (Lamar Miller) until the third round.

    • Drew Brees, QB
    • Round 4, Pick 41
Take One Play Off and He Burns You

闲人 drafted the most explosive QB in the league in Drew Brees. He's projected to lead NFL QBs in plays over 40 yards with 13.2 and TDs over 40 yards with 5.1.

    • Ameer Abdullah, RB
    • Round 5, Pick 56
    Throwing Caution to the Wind

They grabbed Ameer Abdullah with the 56th pick, even though his ADP is only 88.4 across all Yahoo! leagues.

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
