  • Officially shut down for season
Triple-A Toledo placed Lange (lat) on its full-season injured list Friday.

Advice: The transaction confirms that the surgery Lange underwent this past week to address a right lat avulsion was indeed season-ending. Though the right-handed reliever is currently on the minor-league IL, the Tigers could recall him and place him on the major-league 60-day IL if the team needs to open up a spot on the 40-man roster at any point. Per Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press, Lange is optimistic that he'll be back to full health for the start of spring training in 2025. Rotowire.com 4 minutes ago
  • Earns third save
Chapman gave up a run on two hits in the ninth inning but still managed to pick up his third save Sunday against Atlanta.

Advice: Chapman came in with a three-run lead in the ninth and worked in and out of trouble to grab his second save in his last four appearances. The veteran has taken over the Pirates ninth-inning role since losing closer David Bednar to injury on June 19th. There is still no timetable for Bednar's return from an oblique injury, so Chapman is likely looking at a few more save opportunities in the meantime. • Returns from 7-day injured list
Double-A Richmond reinstated McDonald (groin) from its 7-day injured list Sunday.

Advice: McDonald has resided on Richmond's IL all season but is finally ready to join the Giants' Eastern League affiliate after an extended rehab assignment that first kicked off May 14. In 10 total outings between the rookie-level Arizona Complex League and High-A Eugene covering 24.1 innings, McDonald turned in a 4.44 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 34:12 K:BB. Rotowire.com 28 minutes ago
  • DFA'd by San Francisco
The Giants designated Howard for assignment Sunday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: The right-hander surrendered six runs over 2.2 innings Saturday against the Dodgers and has now lost his place on the Giants' 26-man active roster and 40-man roster. Howard has struggled to a 5.63 ERA and 21:11 K:BB over 24 frames in the big leagues this season. Rotowire.com 55 minutes ago
  • Joe Kelly (shoulder) won’t return before break
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters Sunday that Joe Kelly (shoulder) won’t be ready to return before the All-Star break.

Advice: Kelly will need a rehab assignment before returning, and the right-hander will not be able to complete that assignment before the break. The 36-year-old has been on the injured list since May 6 because of his shoulder trouble, and he’ll likely pitch in the middle-innings once he’s activated off the 60-day IL. Rotoworld Today, 11:29 am
  • Promoted, should pitch Sunday
Roupp (undisclosed) was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: The 25-year-old was on the injured list at Triple-A Sacramento with an unspecified injury, but he'll join the Giants after making three rehab starts in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. Roupp has a 5.27 ERA and 12:8 K:BB across 13.2 innings for San Francisco this season. According to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, Roupp is expected to cover about three innings behind opening pitcher Spencer Bivens against the Dodgers on Sunday. • Falls apart in fifth
Schwellenbach (1-4) took the loss Sunday against the Pirates, giving up four runs on five hits over five innings. He struck out seven and walked two.

Advice: Schwellenbach cruised through four innings before running into a buzzsaw in the fifth, courtesy of two-run homers by O'Neil Cruz and Rowdy Tellez. He had a similar issue in his last start against the Cardinals, giving up all four of his runs in the third inning. The rookie right-hander has now given up at least four runs in half of his six career starts and has seen his ERA jump to 5.68. He's scheduled for a tough test next against the Phillies on Saturday.  Rotowire.com Today, 11:26 am
  • Gets fourth win
Falter (4-6) earned the win Sunday over Atlanta. He allowed one run on two hits with four walks and five strikeouts over five innings.

Advice: Falter struggled with his command Sunday as he walked a career-high four batters but still did enough to get the win. He got out of trouble with double-play grounders in the fourth and fifth inning, and he managed to snap a streak of four straight losses. Falter had been having a dismal June prior to this start (0-4 and 6.63 ERA). He'll take a 3.87 ERA and 1.14 WHIP into his next start against the Mets. Rotowire.com Today, 11:24 am
  • Blue Jays acquire RHP Rodríguez in trade with TEX
Blue Jays acquired RHP Yerry Rodríguez in a trade with the Rangers for RHP Josh Mollerus.

Advice: Rodríguez will head to Triple-A Buffalo. The 26-year-old right-hander was designated for assignment after an ugly 7.11 ERA and 28/17 K/BB in his 31 2/3 innings with Texas over the last two seasons. The Blue Jays will hope to unlock his potential, but he’s not likely to be more than organizational depth at this stage. Rotoworld Today, 10:21 am
