  • Mendoza: Megill will not move to the bullpen
According to The Athletic’s Will Sammon Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Tylor Megill will “continue to make starts in Triple A.”

Advice: Mets was sent down to the minors on Sunday after posting a 5.08 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and a 49/19 K/BB ratio across 39 innings over his eight starts. There has been some discussion that he would profile better as a reliever but it seems that, for now, the Mets plan to keep working him as a starter in the hopes he can help their rotation later in the season. • Blake: Rodón working to adjust gameplan
Yankees pitching coach Matt Blake said Carlos Rodón is working to adjust his approach as team’s key on hitting his fastball.

Advice: Speaking to The Athletic, Matt Blake said he doesn’t have long-term concerns with Rodón despite the left-hander allowing 20 earned runs and a 1.253 OPS in his last three outings. “I think it’s being ready to adapt your plan early because it’s clear that teams that can hit the fastball are targeting him early,” Blake said. “There are more guys like him who throw the ball hard with good profiles and... there’s just less room for error with that stuff. Even if that’s how you got paid, that’s not necessarily your map for success down the road. The more we can adjust and adapt to the league and the sooner we can do that, the easier it is...You’re not asking him to be crafty, but you’ve got to have a better rhythm than that.” Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:25 am
  • DL Hall will make one more rehab start
Brewers manager Pat Murphy confirmed that DL Hall (knee) will make “at least one more” rehab start with Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: Hall threw 60 pitches in three innings on Saturday, allowing one run on five hits while striking out four and walking one. While he gave up some hard contact, his four-seam fastball averaged 94.7 mph, which is up over two mph from his early starts with the Brewers. The team has worked to get his velocity back up while he was rehabbing his knee, and the work may have paid off. Hall was an intriguing fantasy starter coming into the year and might be in for a solid summer if he can remain healthy. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:56 am

  • Justin Verlander has started playing catch
Astros general manager Dana Brown said Justin Verlander (neck) has resumed playing catch.

Advice: The 41-year-old has been on the injured list since the middle of June with a neck issue, and the Astros have been tight-lipped about his recovery. According to The Athletic’s Chandler Rome, “Verlander has deferred all questions to the team, which remains insistent this injury is just a neck issue,” but the team has said that he’ll need a prolonged buildup and then at least one rehab start, which means a return before the All-Star break feels unlikely. • Cleared to face hitters
Blackburn (foot) is scheduled to face hitters in live batting practice Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Ross Stripling (elbow) is set to do the same Wednesday, as both hurlers look to be in the same spot in their respective rehab programs. Given that Stripling has been on the injured list since May 25 while Blackburn was deactivated May 13, the latter pitcher could need more time to get fully stretched back out during an eventual minor-league rehab assignment. The Athletics will likely determine whether either or both of Stripling or Blackburn are ready to report to an affiliate based on how they fare during their live sessions Wednesday. • Still shut down from throwing
Wood (shoulder) hasn't resumed a throwing program since receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection during the second week of June, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Wood will be eligible to come off the 60-day injured list next week, but since he's not yet even playing catch again since being shut down in mid-May with left rotator cuff tendinitis, he could be more than a month away from rejoining the Oakland rotation. Prior to landing on the shelf, Wood went 1-3 with a 5.26 ERA and 1.78 WHIP across 39.1 innings over his nine starts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:36 am

  • Set to face hitters Wednesday
Stripling (elbow) is scheduled to face hitters in a live batting practice session Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Stripling will move on to the next phase of his rehab program after he completed a two-inning simulated bullpen session Saturday without incident. The 34-year-old has been on the shelf since May 25 with a right elbow flexor strain and will likely need at least one or two rehab starts before he's cleared to return from the 15-day injured list, most likely after the All-Star break. • Covers six innings Sunday
Medina allowed one run on four hits and three walks while striking out five over six innings Sunday against the Diamondbacks. He did not factor into the decision.

Advice: Medina was locked into a pitcher's duel with Brandon Pfaadt in this one. Medina held the Diamondbacks scoreless through three frames before Christian Walker was able to push the first run of the game across in the first on a base hit. That was the only major tally against Medina on the afternoon, as he completed two more scoreless frames and finished with his first quality start this season while needing just 86 pitches. Medina's stuff was clicking in this one, as his fastball was nearly touching triple digits and he registered an excellent 14 swinging strikes. Medina has struggled to find consistency, however, evidenced by his 4.80 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 22:15 K:BB (30 innings). He's lined up for a tough matchup against the Orioles his next time on the mound this weekend. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:55 am
  • Tagged with six runs
Anderson (7-8) yielded six runs on seven hits and a walk over 4.2 innings Sunday, striking out two and taking a loss against the Tigers.

Advice: Anderson gave up one run through three innings before the Tigers plated three runs in the fourth. He was charged with two more when Carson Kelly drilled a three-run homer off Andrew Wantz in the fifth. It was the most runs allowed by Anderson this season and his ERA jumped from 2.63 to 3.03 through 104 frames. He went 2-3 with a 4.15 ERA in six June outings. Anderson's next start is lined up to be on the road against the Cubs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:47 am
