Player Notes

  • Rockies outright Elehuris Montero to Triple-A
Rockies sent INF Elehuris Montero outright to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Advice: Montero was designated for assignment last weekend after hitting .205 with a .571 OPS so far this season. With nobody claiming him on waivers, he will return to Triple-A where he hit .359 in 35 games last year with 15 home runs and 48 RBI. He may simply be a good Triple-A hitter who never quite finds his footing at the big league level. Rotoworld Thursday, 11:17 am
  • Optioned to Rochester
The Nationals optioned Meneses to Triple-A Rochester on Thursday.

Advice: Through 313 plate appearances, Meneses has slashed just .231/.291/.306 -- his worst season at the plate in his three-year MLB career -- and he'll now attempt to right the ship in the minors. Meanwhile, the Nationals will likely turn to Harold Ramirez or Ildemaro Vargas to start at first base until Joey Gallo (hamstring) is able to return from the injured list. • Heading to bench Thursday
Fry is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the White Sox.

Advice: Fry has a .606 OPS over his past 12 games and will take a seat for Thursday's contest. Jose Ramirez will rest his legs as the designated hitter while Gabriel Arias receives a start at the hot corner. Rotowire.com Thursday, 9:40 am

  • Taking seat Thursday
Cronenworth is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Rangers.

Advice: It's a routine day of rest after Cronenworth started each of the previous 12 games for the Padres. Tyler Wade will receive a start at second base. Rotowire.com Thursday, 9:06 am
  • Launches homer in loss
Paredes went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and two walks in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Royals.

Advice: Paredes took Michael Wacha deep in the opening frame for an early 1-0 lead. He and Amed Rosario were the only Rays to get on base multiple times in the game as Paredes drew multiple walks for the first time since May 17. He's now racked up five extra-base hits, reached base a total of eight times and driven in four runs over his last three games. Paredes is enjoying another productive campaign after breaking out last year, slashing .276/.365/.481 with 14 homers, 46 RBI, 33 runs and a 35:57 BB:K in 342 plate appearances in 2024. • Sitting against left-hander
Busch is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Phillies.

Advice: Southpaw Cristopher Sanchez will be toeing the rubber for the Phillies, so the left-handed hitting Busch will grab a seat. Patrick Wisdom will handle first base and also the second spot in the Cubs' batting order. Rotowire.com Thursday, 8:17 am
  • Three-run shot in loss
Freeman went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer and two walks in Wednesday's loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Freeman put the Dodgers ahead with a three-run blast in the bottom of the first and proceeded to reach base four times in the contest in a losing effort. It was the first baseman's 13th long ball of the season and the fourth in his last 15 games. Over that latter stretch he's batting .327 (18-for-55) with 14 RBI and 10 runs scored. Freeman has also recorded multiple hits in back-to-back games and in three of his last four. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:50 am
  • Not in Thursday's lineup
LeMahieu is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Reds.

Advice: LeMahieu started the previous five games and will receive a day off after he went 4-for-19 with two doubles, three walks and three RBI in that stretch. Oswaldo Cabrera will take over at the hot corner Thursday. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:27 am

  • Day off Thursday
Vaughn is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest in Cleveland.

Advice: It appears to be a routine day off for Vaughn after making seven straight starts. The White Sox are giving Gavin Sheets a start at first base while Vaughn gets some rest. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:20 am
