  • To play catch next week
Yamamoto (shoulder) will begin playing catch next week, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Yamamoto has been shut down from throwing since being diagnosed with a right rotator cuff strain June 16 but will resume a throwing program in the coming days. The 25-year-old is no longer feeling pain in his shoulder and seems to be on track for an August return. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:47 pm
  • Yates picks up 13th save against Rays Saturday
Kirby Yates tossed a scoreless inning and picked up the save against the Rays on Saturday.

Andrew Heaney threw 5 1/3 scoreless innings and got a no-decision in the Rangers’ 4-3 victory over the Rays on Saturday.

Advice: Heaney gave up three hits, walked two and struck out seven. He’s had at least seven strikeouts in three of his last four starts. Heaney has pitched well recently as he has a 2.95 ERA in his last seven starts (39 2/3 innings). He lowered his ERA to 3.80 on the season with this outing. The 33-year-old left-hander is set to face the Astros on the road next week.

  • Taj Bradley strikes out five in no-decision
Taj Bradley allowed two runs (one earned) in six innings and got a no-decision against the Rangers on Saturday.

Advice: Bradley gave up five hits, walked two and struck out five. It was another solid outing for Bradley. He left the game with the Rays leading 3-2, but the bullpen couldn’t hold on to get him the win. Bradley hasn’t allowed more than two runs in his last six starts. He has a 3.23 ERA on the season. The 23-year-old right-hander is set to face the Guardians at home next weekend.

  • Bailey Falter leaves start with arm discomfort
The Pirates announced that Bailey Falter was removed from Saturday’s start against the Mets due to left posterior arm discomfort.

Advice: He’s currently being evaluated and treated by the Pirates’ medical team. Despite the vagaries of the diagnosis, anything related to the arm isn’t encouraging. The 27-year-old’s southpaw next start should be in question at a minimum and it wouldn’t be surprising at all to see him land on the injured list. The Pirates should have more information on his status at some point before Sunday’s series finale. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:48 pm
  • Twins release Jordan Balazovic for KBO opportunity
    Twins released RHP Jordan Balazovic.

Advice: The 25-year-old hurler has an opportunity to play with the Doosan Bears in the Korea Baseball Organization, so the Twins granted him his release so he can play overseas. Balazovic posted a 5.60 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and a 49/15 K/BB ratio over 35 1/3 innings at Triple-A St. Paul this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:36 pm
  • Loses 40-man spot
The Royals designated Selby for assignment Saturday.

Advice: Selby will lose his spot on the Royals' 40-man roster in order to make room for Kris Bubic (elbow), who was reinstated from the 60-day IL on Saturday. Selby hasn't pitched in the majors since early May, and he has posted a 6.23 ERA alongside a 1.18 WHIP over 21.2 frames with Omaha. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:22 pm
  • Back from injured list
The Royals reinstated Bubic (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Saturday.

Advice: Bubic has been on the injured list all season while working his way back from a Tommy John procedure he underwent last April. In nine rehab appearances with Triple-A Omaha, the 26-year-old lefty posted a 2.63 ERA and 1.22 WHIP over 27.1 innings. He'll transition to the bullpen as he returns to Kansas City and will likely serve in a multi-inning relief role. Walter Pennington was optioned to Omaha in order to make room on the active roster, and Colin Selby was DFA'd to clear a 40-man spot. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:13 pm

Advice: Bednar utilized all three of his pitches in Saturday's session as he faced live batters for the first time in his rehab program. It's another positive step for the 29-year-old as he works his way back from a left oblique strain.
