  • Torrens knocks in three in spot start Saturday
Luis Torrens went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and 3 RBI against the Pirates on Saturday.

Advice: It doesn’t get much better for backup catchers. Torrens cleared the bases with a double in the third inning. He added two singles later on. He’s hitting .317 with three home runs and eight RBI in 41 at-bats for the Mets this year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:37 pm
  • Cruz blasts 13th home run in loss to Mets Saturday
Oneil Cruz went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run against the Mets on Saturday.

Advice: Cruz’ home run was his 13th of the season. He hit a two-run shot off David Peterson in the second inning. Cruz was hitting just .145 with two home runs in 76 at-bats against left-handed pitching entering Saturday. He’s hitting .244 with a .737 OPS and 39 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:34 pm
  • Ketel Marte (back) held out of lineup on Saturday
Ketel Marte (back) was held out of the Diamondbacks’ starting lineup for Saturday evening’s showdown against the Padres.

Advice: Marte was removed from Friday’s game due to tightness in his back. The Diamondbacks are hopeful that it’s only a minor issue and won’t require a lengthy absence. He’s expected to be available off the bench on Saturday night and could return to the Diamondbacks’ lineup for Sunday’s series finale. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:32 pm
  • Nimmo has three-hit game in win against Pirates
Brandon Nimmo went 3-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base against the Pirates on Saturday.

Advice: Nimmo’s stolen base was his eighth of the year. He was 0-for-10 with two walks in his last three games. Nimmo is hitting .249 with an .810 OPS and 52 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:17 pm
  • Miguel Andujar drives in three, reaches four times
Miguel Andujar went 3-for-4 with three RBI in a blowout of the Orioles on Saturday.

Advice: Andujar was one of four hitters to drive in at least three runs for the Athletics as Oakland put up a 19-spot against the Orioles on Saturday. The 29-year-old has really swung the bat well in his limited chances with a slash of .304/.333/.419. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Andujar was playing for a new team by the end of July, assuming the A’s don’t keep scoring 19 runs. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:14 pm
  • George Springer reaches four times in victory
George Springer scored twice and reached four times against the Mariners on Saturday.

Advice: Springer played the role of leadoff man well Saturday while picking up a couple of knocks and a pair of free passes. The outfielder has been swinging the bat far more effectively recently, but this good run still has him hitting just .221/.313/.354. It’s more than understandable to be skeptical of success for Springer — at least in a fantasy role — for the second half of 2024. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:08 pm
  • Spencer Steer homers and walks in defeat
Spencer Steer homered and walked in a loss to the Tigers on Saturday.

Advice: Steer swatted a solo shot in the ninth inning, which is good, but it came with the Reds down 5-2, which is bad for Cincinnati and unimportant for fantasy managers. He’s really swung the bat well as of late while vastly improving his still slightly-underwhelming slash of .243/.336/.435. The 13 homers and 13 steals sure have helped, however. • Xavier Edwards reaches three times, scores run
Xavier Edwards reached three times while going 2-for-3 in a win over the White Sox.

Advice: The only negative was a caught stealing for Edwards, his second of the year. The 24-year-old is a former top prospect who has hit .286/.375/.357 since taking over the shortstop role for the recently-departed Tim Anderson. His speed could help fantasy managers, but Edwards lack of power makes him a tough sell for fantasy managers in anything but NL-only formats. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:52 pm
  • Diaz has three hits, three-run home run in loss
Yandy Diaz went 3-for-3 with a walk, a double, and a three-run home run against the Rangers on Saturday.

Advice: Diaz’ home run was his eighth of the season. His three-run shot in the seventh inning off Jacob Latz put the Rays on top 3-2. Diaz is hitting just .270 on the season, but has picked it up lately. He’s 42-for-133 (.315) over his last 31 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:48 pm
