Corresponding with a favorable draft slot (seventh overall), Justin had a stellar showing. With a mark of 10-3-0 (1,991 points), they're projected to finish third in Too Many Californians League. They focused on having a balanced offensive attack, selecting QB Tom Brady (22nd overall), RB Todd Gurley (35th), WR Mike Evans (7th), and TE Jimmy Graham (50th) within the first five rounds. They finished the draft with the worst set of RBs in the league, as they have Gurley, Derrick Henry, DeAndre Washington, and Kareem Hunt for their rotation.

Justin should use Week 8 to consider life's great mysteries, like why Greenland is ice and Iceland is green. It would be better than checking fantasy football that week. They have five players and the most projected fantasy points on bye that week. Taking a look at the season from start to finish, they have the weakest slate. Justin has the opportunity to close with a bang, as the last four games of their season are projected to be less difficult than the league average. However, the opening stretch of first four games is expected to be tougher than average, so a slow start is possible.

Draft Notes

  • Strength in Numbers

In order, the three best positions for Justin are QB, TE, and K.

  • Separating the Wheat from the Chaff

At three different positions, Justin picked up projected top-3 players (Tom Brady, Jimmy Graham, and Ryan Succop).

  • Team of Winners

Justin is rocking a team of fantasy MVPs. Last season, three of their players were among the top-20 players that were on the most first-place fantasy teams (Mike Evans, Tom Brady, and Jimmy Graham).

  • A Stretch of the Imagination

Grabbing Cordarrelle Patterson at pick 190 was, let's say, conceptually adventurous. Patterson is owned on just a handful of rosters across all Yahoo! leagues.

Player Analysis

    • Mike Evans, WR
    • Round 1, Pick 7
    Monster Mike

Second only to Jordy Nelson in receiving TDs last season, Evans appeared on more first-place fantasy rosters than any other wide receiver.

    • Tom Brady, QB
    • Round 2, Pick 22
    Bravo, Brady

For the second consecutive season, Tom appeared on more first-place fantasy rosters than any other QB. Over that 28-game stretch, he's averaged 297.3 yards, 2.3 TDs, and 0.3 INTs per outing.

    • Todd Gurley, RB
    • Round 3, Pick 35
    The Heist Is On

The other league managers passed over a diamond in the rough. According to ADP, Justin got a steal in snatching Todd Gurley in the third round (35th overall pick vs. ADP of 23.5).

    • Jimmy Graham, TE
    • Round 4, Pick 50
    Stolen In Broad Daylight

Jimmy Graham was the best value pick of the round and could be the cause of many sleepless nights for the other managers.

    • Kareem Hunt, RB
    • Round 6, Pick 78
    That Just Happened

Why can't I find Kareem Hunt on my draft cheat sheet? Oh wait, here he is under "mid-to-late-round value."

Best Available

If Justin has a desire to make a roster move, RB and WR are areas of need.

    • Joe Williams
    • Rank 158, ADP 129
    • Giovani Bernard
    • Rank 195, ADP 118
    • Zay Jones
    • Rank 143, ADP 129
    • Nelson Agholor
    • Rank 155, ADP 128

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
